THE CHALLENGE
In less than four years, we grew from 20 to 75 employees. This meant that we transitioned from a small startup to a scale-up quickly, driven by high employee engagement, co-creation, and motivation in creativity and decision-making processes. We needed to ensure that there was continuous confidence in leadership, as well as the development of our organization as a values-driven, agile, and insight-oriented company. The challenge lay in fostering trust and effectiveness in leadership, while preserving our culture of self-leadership and co-creation. Specific tools were essential to guiding the organization through its next phase for sustainable growth.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE DOINGS?
Doings shared our vision of self-leadership as a guide for the organization, and brought experience from other tech and scale-up companies facing similar challenges. This made the choice simple. Through a research-driven and tailored process, they helped us shape our leadership in a way that felt authentic and relevant. We appreciated their agile approach, deep understanding of conscious leadership, and ability to make the complex simple and practical.
THE SOLUTION
Doings developed a customized leadership development journey in three parts:
- Self-leadership for the entire organization
Hybrid training sessions helped employees to understand themselves, their impact on others, and how to take responsibility for themselves. Tools and models for self-reflection and communication were introduced. - Leadership Manifesto development
A co-creative process defined what leadership is to our organization. Anchored in our values and vision, the resulting manifesto outlined four core principles that provided a clear leadership framework. - Leadership Training
This program translated the Leadership Manifesto into practical tools and methods. It gave leaders deeper insights, strategic clarity, and concrete skills to manage their roles more effectively.
THE RESULTS
- Shared tools for self-leadership:
Tools from the self-leadership training are now used daily, and have become a natural part of our culture. They provide a shared foundation for growth and collaboration. We’re particularly proud that the training reflects who we are – our language, illustrations, and style. - Leadership-focused onboarding:
All new hires now participate in tailored training as part of their onboarding, ensuring a strong foundation of self-leadership and collaboration. - Increased clarity and confidence for leaders:
The Leadership Manifesto continues to provide clear expectations, and highlights the importance of leadership roles. It builds confidence and offers a tangible way to measure success. - Strengthened collaboration and motivation:
Our strategic OKRs focus on improving collaboration, and we are already seeing positive trends in internal relationships and employee engagement. - Prepared for sustainable growth:
With a strong self-leadership focus and clear leadership frameworks, we are well-positioned to tackle future challenges. Our leadership is agile, insight-driven, and equipped to propel both our employees and the organization forward.
